And the Fifth National Climate Assessment further emphasizes a global warming and ecological pattern that is accelerating widespread human, environmental, and economic crises.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) warns of the urgency in strong, rapid, and sustained reductions in greenhouse gas emissions to the internationally-agreed threshold of 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, cutting emissions in half by 2030, and reaching net zero emissions by 2050 if we are to continue to enjoy a healthy and sustainable planet that meets the essential needs of society, the regenerative needs of nature, as well as the economic and generational needs of the future.
